Sony’s Ambitious Plans for 3D Gaming

Sony’s 3D plans is extending beyond just 3D televisions. The company is working on gaming ideas to integrate 3D technology with its PlayStation 3 home gaming console, according to Mick Hocking: “”We also have techniques like holographics for the PS3 that I think will be very interesting for the future 3D games.” The interesting part about Sony’s 3D games is that it will allow for multi-player gaming on the same TV screen, with each player only being able to see his/her screen so you can’t see what your opponent is seeing. Hocking notes: In regards to that we have some new technology that we’ve shown to developers that uses 3D techniques, it allows two players to play full screen multiplayer games but without each being able to see the others view, and they have been massively keen on them. The promise of Google TV is to deliver a “web, made for your TV”. To reach the masses, the Logitech Revue is a hardware solution that lets anyone with an HDTV and an Internet connection join the party. It’s even more fun if you already use Cable or Satellite, but it’s not required. Unlike many other TV-computing products, Google TV and Logitech do not want to go against established media such as Cable and Satellite. On the contrary, they try working with them. Cable and Satellite companies cooperation is key to the whole project. HTC Merge to be Announced by Verizon on Thursday

The HTC Merge , which had been leaked and rumored before, may get its announcement from Verizon Wireless and HTC this Thursday. The two companies have scheduled an event in Seattle to “celebrate the launching of the HTC Droid Merge World-Phone.” The Merge utilizes the same form factor as the T-Mobile G2 and has a sliding keyboard, 800 MHz processor, 4 GB RAM, and runs on Google’s Android 2.2 operating system along with HTC Sense 1.6 user interface. As a world phone, the device will be using Verizon Wireless’s network in the U.S. and can roam onto GSM/HSPA networks overseas. The HTC Surround is part of the first batch of Windows Phone 7 devices to arrive on the U.S market. It has been designed to be a great music companion, thanks to its powerful sliding speaker. This seems like a perfect companion for the Zune Pass, the music rental subscription service from Microsoft. I know, building a speaker-smartphone is a bit of a strange idea, but I’ll keep an open mind. Most importantly, I’ll focus on what Windows Phone 7 is capable of and whether or not it stands a chance in this uber-competitive smartphone market. With a fresh and ultra-fast user interface Microsoft’s new entry in a market that it once-dominated might make more waves than many would have thought just a year ago. Notion Ink’s upcoming Adam tablet is still undergoing birth pains, and we now have new updates concerning said device. HDCP Master Key allegedly released

The Twitter-verse is abuzz with headlines of an alleged release of the HDCP ‘master key’. If this proves to be true, then hacking any HDCP-protected content for any HDCP-protected device is a possibility. In a Twitter post by user IntelGlobalPR from slightly more than a couple of hours ago, nothing much else is known about this discovery. The key has been described as “a forty times forty element matrix of fifty-six bit hexadecimal numbers”, and while those who are less technically inclined shouldn’t be too bothered by the jargon, it does mean that a compromised HDCP will enable users to bypass HDCP entirely, resulting in the authorities’ current ability to allow HDCP kill-switching remotely.
