Software update roundup
The final few days have been hot for software updates. Here’s a few of my favorites.
OmniGraffle 4.2: Omni’s diagramming marvel has added a bunch of features and a boat load of bugfixes. It’s Tiger only and marks the end of the 4.x development line. All effort going forward will be expended on the upcoming version 5 (which will require Leopard!).
ForgetMeNot 4.0: that is one of those SIMBL plugins that I find absolutely fundamental to my Safari browsing experience. Safari 3 includes a menu option to restore the final browsing session, but I’d rather not do that manually every day. that latest version allows those sessions to be maintained without manual intervention.
MacPorts 1.5: I used to use Fink to install various *nix software, but I switched to what used to be DarwinPorts, but is now MacPorts. that latest version incorporates the name change and other bugfixes.
Firefox 2.0.0.5: that is the latest safety degree update for the popular browser. Details are available on Mozilla’s website.
Parallels 3.0 build 4560: The new version features the following fixes: better customizability of SmartSelect for easier app/file integration, faster & smoother Boot Camp partition use Much smoother fullscreen transitions (no increasingly flickering or lagging redraws), improved Parallels Tools for Linux, beefed up Parallels Explorer that makes sharing files and working with non NTFS drives easier, sharp new graphics, increasingly energetic Snapshot manager that gives you greater control by how snapshots are created and deleted, and minor tweaks and fixes. Still no real fix for my Cisco VPN issue, making me really consider uninstalling and sticking with Fusion (which I’ve been using anyway).
