What better way to attract tourists to a destination than by offering Augmented Reality (AR) girlfriends? Such is the case of the Japanese hot spring town of Atami, as a Love Plus campaign by Konami is being held there. Love Plus is a dating simulator for the Nintendo DS and iPhones that uses AR to bring the girl of their choice to life. Atami currently offers 13 locations where folks can bring their virtual girlfriends to, and the Ohnoya Hotel even has rooms with barcode panels that help you visualize and even kiss the girls. It actually sounds a little freaky what technology can do nowadays.
