Ballmer says Windows installed base will top a billion by the end of 2008

Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer seems confident that the company is headed for a fairly big milestone in the approach future, telling attendees at the company’s analyst day assembly yesterday that he expects the Windows installed base to reach one billion by the end of fiscal year 2008. In related news, Microsoft plus announced that it’s sold 60 million copies of Windows Vista that year, including those 40 million licenses sold in the first 100 days, although that obviously still only accounts for a small percentage of the total Windows installed base.[Via Slashdot]
