500GB…on an optical disc

Who wants to assemble out about Blu-Ray and HD-DVD discs? Well, I do, so there. Researchers (always good for a lark) working on a a project known as “Microholas” have reportedly found a way to fit 500GB of notes onto HD DVD or Blu-Ray discs. Via a disc’s nanostructures, microholagraphic recording techniques could squeeze

all that info onto the disc and may even go as high as one terabyte. The Microholas team foresees such spacious discs being used for long-term storage, as opposed to say, holding all 12 discs of the Lord of the Rings extended edition.
